By Anil Merani: Harshvardhan Rane has been in the news recently due to a public dispute with his Sanam Teri Kasam co-star. This Pakistani actor criticised him following his decision to pull away from the upcoming sequel respectfully. He then directed a response to Marwa.
We spoke to Harshvardhan about the situation, and here’s what he said:
Your thoughts on severing cultural ties with Pakistan after Pahalgam?
“I don’t speak on behalf of the country; I am speaking for myself. If I were a cricketer, I would choose whether or not to play with a particular individual. If I were a fellow traveller, I would decide with whom I want to travel.”
I can only talk about my field, mentioning others would be above my pay grade
On not working with Pakistani actor Marwa again in Sanam Teri Kasam 2?
“As an actor, I have decided to step back from working with someone like that. I can decline to work with an actor who labels my country’s actions as cowardly.”
Is it ironic that while Ms. Hocani criticises fellow Pakistani actors for collaborating with India, she becomes upset when she is dropped?
“I am not aware of what’s happening within the film industry. You will never hear me complain about any Indian, whether they are fellow actors or filmmakers. If she is targeting her community, I have nothing to add.”
What are your expectations from Sanam Teri Kasam 2?
“I’m not focusing on my next film right now; my priority is avoiding certain associations.”
Will the brand Sanam Teri Kasam be diluted with a new female lead?
“It’s the highest-grossing re-released film in India, but now I can’t think about my profit. The nation comes first, and films come later.”

Now, can they say that my PR team has got this done?
No, its weeding being exercised by the government.
