This Father’s Day on 15th June 2025, actor Vardhaan Puri opens his heart to reflect on a legacy that spans decades and generations—one that began with his grandfather, the iconic Amrish Puri, carried forward by his father Rajeev Puri, and now lives through him.
“My grandfather always told my father that life is nothing without passion. And therefore, every moment must be infused with so much passion that the universe gives you everything you’re seeking. Of course, for that, it is very necessary for one to be punctual, disciplined, and have tremendous amounts of resilience. This lesson through my grandfather and my father has been passed to me. And these are qualities which I constantly keep nurturing. At least, I try my best to”, says Actor Vardhaan Puri
These timeless lessons, Vardhaan shares, continue to guide his life. From his Dadu’s wisdom to his father’s ethics, each man in the Puri family has contributed to shaping his identity. A firm believer in value-led living, Vardhaan shares the morning mantra gifted to him by his Dadu:
“My grandfather always used to say that Khud hi ko kar buland itna, ki har takdeer se pehle Khuda aakar tumse khud poocche ki bata teri raza kya hai. It translates in English to make yourself so able and strong that God himself asks you—tell me a wish and I shall fulfill it. This is something which I say to myself every morning.”

To Vardhaan, the legacy isn’t just about acting—it’s about integrity and the legacy is emotional, yet also incredibly artistic.
“It feels like an absolute honor to carry my family’s name and the legacy of discipline, craft, and values. In fact, all of this is being passed on from my forefathers. Of course, my grandfather and my father are great achievers and they’ve lived wonderful lives. In front of them, I’m just a beginner. I’m just a student and I’m constantly persevering to make them proud and, of course, at the same time, I’m protecting and nurturing my own individuality. I think life without discipline and values is rather incomplete.”
Vardhaan Puri also opined about how his father Rajeev Puri became a bridge between him and his grandfather Amrish Puri
“My father has always been an extremely inspiring leader. He is someone who goes forward with a very strong sense of ethics and at the same time is also a very loving human. He has inculcated all of his values from my great grandfather Nihal Chand Puri and my grandfather Amrish Puri. Sometimes when I look at my father, I feel I’m looking at my grandfather. They also look very alike. Dad even sounds like Dadu now, having a very similar baritone to him in his voice. Their level of commitment is unmatched and I respect that much”
And when it comes to cinema and performance, the connection runs soul-deep.Vardhaan honors the fact that his love for cinema and theatre is not just a passion, but a calling.
“I think my love for stage and cinema is something that is common for both my grandfather and myself. We both have strongly believed that as entertainers, cinema and stage cannot merely just be a part of our life—it is our entire life. Because our audiences are our kings, our gods. And as artists, our job is to keep them engaged, entertained, and also at times to inform and educate them”
This Father’s Day, Vardhaan Puri doesn’t just celebrate the men who shaped him—he honors the timeless wisdom, love, and legacy they’ve entrusted him with. With humility in his heart and purpose in his stride, he walks forward—always remembering where he comes from.
