
The EU is hopeful of a trade deal with the US by July 9—the day the pause on US reciprocal tariffs ends—after EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and President Donald Trump had a ‘good exchange’ over phone, a Commission spokesperson said.
“We’re fully geared up to get an agreement in principle by Wednesday, and we’re firing on all cylinders to that effect,” EU trade spokesman Olof Gill said.
