India will protect the interests of its textile-apparel sector in the proposed US trade pact, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has assured the Apparel Export Promotion Council and the Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council.
The trade bodies said apparel and home textiles are among the leading export categories to the US, and would be disproportionately hit by any US tariff hike.
