US President Donald Trump has threatened to impose a 30-35-per cent tariff on Japan if both sides failed to reach a bilateral deal before July 9.
Trump also continued to cast doubt that an agreement could be reached with Tokyo.
Japan’s chief cabinet secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi has said that to strike a deal with Washington, he would not make concessions that could hurt domestic farmers.
