There was a time when Rekha was madly in love with Amitabh Bachchan, who was already married to Jaya Bachchan. Reportedly, things escalated to a level where Jaya Bachchan asked Amitabh never to work with Rekha. While the ex-lovers maintained a dignified silence, Rekha has, time and again, made direct and indirect comments about her equation with Amitabh Bachchan.

Rekha recently appeared in The Great India Kapil Show, where a spectator praised her dance moves in the film, Suhaag during the ‘Dandiya’ sequence. He said that even though Rekha is a South Indian, she danced Dandiya as if she was a Gujarati. To this, Rekha credited Amitabh Bachchan for her stellar performance and said:
“Ye sochiye ke jinke saath main Dhandiya khel rahi thi, wo kya shaks hai. Acha nahi khelungi toh kya karungi? Dandiya aati ya na aati ho, saamna aise aadmi-shaqs aa jaata hai toh khud hi har angh angh theerakhne lagta hai.“
