Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital upgrades cancer care with Radixact radiation therapy system
Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Mumbai, has introduced the Radixact Treatment Delivery System as part of its radiation therapy services. The system aims to support precision, adaptability and safety in cancer treatment delivery.
The hospital stated that the addition of the Radixact system enhances its existing cancer care infrastructure. It integrates with the hospital’s existing organ-wise sub-specialty expertise and clinical protocols within a single institutional framework. According to the hospital, this development aligns with its strategy to offer a consolidated approach to cancer care under one roof.
The Radixact system provides radiation therapy while minimising exposure to surrounding healthy tissues. It includes a built-in CT scanner that provides real-time imaging, allowing continuous verification of tumour positioning throughout the treatment process. The platform supports treatment for a wide range of cancers across various anatomical sites and enables the delivery of higher radiation doses where clinically appropriate.
The system also includes Synchrony technology, which adjusts treatment in response to body movements such as breathing, maintaining accuracy throughout the session.
Kokilaben Hospital noted that it supports the new technology with a large base of precision oncology infrastructure and personnel. This includes a multidisciplinary team of over 300 oncology specialists and a Molecular and Genomics Laboratory that offers a 500-gene somatic cancer panel. This laboratory capability enables the hospital to implement personalised treatment plans informed by genetic data.
Dr Santosh Shetty, Executive Director and CEO of Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital & Medical Research Institute, said:
“At Kokilaben Hospital, we are constantly pushing the boundaries of medical innovation to ensure our patients receive the most advanced and effective treatment. The adoption of the globally acclaimed Radixact system marks a major leap forward in our commitment to delivering world-class cancer care. As a centre that continues to be recognised for its leadership in oncology, we are proud to bring one of the most sophisticated radiation technologies to India. This upgrade reaffirms our dedication to adopting global standards that improve both clinical outcomes and quality of care.”
The hospital added that the Radixact system’s ability to adapt to changes in tumour anatomy and patient movement enhances its utility in providing individualised care. This integration comes amid the rising burden of cancer in India, where such technologies may help address growing clinical demand.
