

Ujala Cygnus Group of Hospitals has announced a strategic partnership with Amandeep Hospitals, a healthcare provider in Punjab and the Jammu and Kashmir region operating 5 multi-super-specialty hospitals with more than 800 operational beds. As part of the agreement, Ujala Cygnus will acquire a significant stake in Amandeep Hospitals.
According to the alliance, Ujala Cygnus will provide institutional scale, technology, and operational expertise, and Amandeep Hospitals will continue to contribute deep-rooted clinical excellence, regional trust, and a legacy of compassionate care.

As part of this partnership, Dr Avtar Singh, Chief Orthopaedics Surgeon, AI Joint Replacement Specialist, Director, Amandeep Group of Hospitals, will lead the Orthopaedics Centre of Excellence across both Ujala Cygnus and Amandeep Hospitals. In this role, he will drive the expansion of a robotics programme across Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir.
With this partnership, Ujala Cygnus enters the Punjab healthcare market for the first time, growing its network from 21 to 26 hospitals and increasing its total bed capacity from approximately 2,000 beds to nearly 2,800 beds with the addition of five hospitals across Amritsar, Pathankot, Firozpur, and Srinagar. It also consolidates Ujala Cygnus’ leadership in Jammu and Kashmir, making it the largest private hospital network in the region.
Founded in 1990 by Dr Amandeep Kaur and Dr Avtar Singh, Amandeep Hospitals provides Orthopaedics, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Neurosciences, Cardiac Sciences, Department of Pulmonary Medicine & Thoracic Surgery, and Gastroenterology, among other specialties
Looking ahead, the combined group plans to expand its presence across Punjab, including potential new hospitals in Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Patiala, and the Tricity region while also augmenting services towards higher-end tertiary and quaternary care.
General Atlantic, a growth investor, entered into a partnership with Ujala Cygnus, backing it with strategic growth investment in April 2024.
